#6 Ban Phe to Chanthaburi.

Ferry from Ko Samed back to the mainland and then a lovely 94km cycle to Chanthaburi. It was another very enjoyable day of riding (my favourite so far?) beginning with a lovely stretch along the coastline.

The road headed inland and immediately offered a protected bicycle lane. While I was grateful, the irony was it was probably the quietest road in cycled in Thailand.

I passed numerous fish farms and crossed a large river before stopping for lunch and another iced coffee.

More stamped bike lanes over the bridge and utilising an app called Ulmon maps I downloaded before the trip modify my planned route to avoid, yep, Sukumvit Rd. Worked out a treat. Small concrete roads (and a little bit of dirt) takes me right into rural south-east Thailand.

I find a hard to find oasis to stop and rest, and a couple of hours later down the road a friendly bike shop on the road into Chantaburi to pick up a cable for my front pannier which I frayed earlier in the day I was trying to tighten.

I’ll pick up on hotel and dinner next time, and then the trip across the border to Cambodia which I completed today!

A nice day for a ride, to be sure.
